Christmas Decor - Finally!

This year has flown by and the holiday season has been no different.  I was late getting the house together and we stuck with pretty simple decor this year(even for us).  I did snap a few photos to share, although the table now also has Fiestaware on it(got it for my birthday this week).  You will notice that I cheated the system and kept my fall centerpiece with very minor adjustments.  It was FREE for fall and only cost me 2 bucks this time.  Not pictured are the wreath on our door and the staircase, but they are decorated the exact same as last year.

Have a safe and blessed Christmas holiday!

Unstoppable

Three years ago today, I stepped out in front of a car to save a puppy.  She was a sewer-covered stray with very little hair, no manners, and a rope around her neck.  No shelter would take her, but one offered to put her down for me for a small fee.  That was my first direct encounter with Waco's shelter overpopulation problem and I couldn't stand the idea of letting her roam the streets again.  She quickly learned to hide in the bathtub, eat directly from the dog food bag, and drive us all completely nuts.

This dog wakes up excited, goes to bed excited, and licks everyone that crosses her path.  She loves vegetables, her bucket, and stalking me.  You can't make her tired, hurt her feelings, or get her truly mad.  She is unstoppable.  Every day is a new adventure to her, and no one can ruin her mood.  Bella Rose, you are the most expensive, hyper-active, exhausting dog I have ever had and I wouldn't send you back for anything.  Mommy loves you!

Antique Shopping Finds

A new craft/antique shop has opened in Waco and I managed to sneak by with a friend one day.  In all of the 20 minutes we were there, I found several adorable items but only got photos of a few.   Enjoy!

I know the blue dresser has become pretty typical, but I took this photo to help me get motivated to strip and paint my little white one from the curb.  The doorknob wall art was just too cute and could be easily done with any old cabinet door and doorknob in any color or size.  I would love to have one of these in my bathroom!  I don't know why, but I LOVED the No Vacancy sign.  I seriously think it would be cute in a flowerbed, though maybe not in the front yard.

LOVE OR HATE???

P.S. Those of you who are consistently irritated by my low-quality cell phone photos will be pleased to know I finally upgraded to an iPhone 4S.  FYI, Siri is a smart aleck!

FREE Fall Centerpiece

If you were with me last year, you already know that I'm not big into fall decorating.  For some reason, I never can get into it, but I do like to dress up my dining table.  I really intended to do better this year, but I have been swamped at work so the whole house has been neglected.  I needed a little inspiration to get a kick start on my yearly pre-holiday deep cleaning, so I decided to start with the dining room.  Am I the only one who starts with the easiest room to get - and keep - clean?

Anyway, since I haven't been shopping for home decor in quite a while, I decided to shop the house for a centerpiece.  I took the leftover leaves from last year's centerpiece and threw it together with some things from around the house.  What do you think?

It's not large, but it is actually to scale with my dining table.  The dining room still needs work, so stay tuned.  Hopefully I will get around to finishing it off(until it's remodeled anyway) soon and I will have more to show.  Have a wonderful rest of the week!
